Camp Firefly is a quality-of-life program for diagnosed children and siblings aged 9 to 17 to have the opportunity to experience summer fun and create lifelong memories in a medically supervised environment

Our camp volunteer program attracts a diverse group of individuals ranging in age and background.  We are looking for high-energy, creative volunteers, desiring to make a difference in the life of a child. We seek volunteers who are leaders, prepared to work hard, care for others, be responsible, build relationships with campers and other staff members, and have the best week of their lives! 

Volunteer Requirements

  • Volunteers are required to commit to an entire week of camp!
  • Volunteers MUST be 20 years of age before they arrive at camp. 
  • Background check required for all volunteers. 

 

Camp Volunteer Positions

Counselors: Assigned to a cabin with 2-3 co-counselors, you’ll work with the same cabin of campers all week long, occasionally doing broader activities with the village (the entire age group).

Activities Crew: Each day is packed full of activities! Our Activities Crew sets up and leads the various activities that we prepare (Water Wars, Marshmallow Wars, Arts & Crafts, etc.). 

Bus Chaperones: Volunteers will chaperone kiddos on the bus from Las Vegas to California and ride back to Vegas with the bus on the 11th. On the return trip (15th), they will be picked up by the bus and be driven to California to chaperone kiddos on the way back home to Las Vegas. 

Pre-Camp Support: If you are unable to commit the entire week, you can come to the office and help prepare camp supplies, or pack the U-Haul!

JANUARY 2: Camp Firefly Application Opens

TBA: Informational Volunteer Mixer for Prospective Volunteers

FEBRUARY 7: Final day to submit a completed Camp Firefly Application

FEBRUARY 20 or MARCH 1: In Person Group Interviews

MARCH 31: Acceptance notifications or declinations sent to all applicants

TBA: Pre-camp Social

JUNE 8: Travel day to Camp Firefly

JUNE 9: Mandatory Onsite Training begins at 8:00am

JUNE 9-14: Camp Firefly
