A New Era Begins at Candlelighters’ New Facility

On November 13, 2024, we at Candlelighters Childhood Cancer Foundation of Nevada celebrated two monumental milestones—the anniversary of our founding and the grand opening of our new facility at 8375 W. Flamingo Rd., Las Vegas, NV. This day marks not just a moment in time, but a transformative leap forward in how we serve our community. Our ribbon-cutting event is more than a ceremony; it is a declaration of our commitment to a future filled with hope, healing, and resilience.

A Vision Realized: A Space Built for Healing and Growth

This new facility is a reflection of our steadfast dedication to supporting families affected by childhood cancer in profound and meaningful ways. We have long understood that cancer’s impact extends beyond the child diagnosed—it reshapes the lives of siblings, parents, and caregivers. Our purpose-built space will address these needs holistically through thoughtfully designed features such as:

Therapy Rooms: Offering one-on-one counseling and support groups for families.

Peer Support Spaces: Providing a sense of community and understanding among families facing similar challenges.

Young Adult Advisory Council Room: Empowering survivors and siblings to shape the future of pediatric oncology care.

Holistic Care Areas: Supporting siblings and parents as they navigate their own emotional journeys.

Children’s Play Areas: Creating a sanctuary of joy and normalcy for kids undergoing treatment.

This new facility isn’t just about providing services—it’s about creating a nurturing environment where families feel safe, supported, and inspired to find strength in one another. It allows us to expand our reach, deepen our impact, and explore innovative ways to bring healing and hope to those who need it most

Why This Facility Matters

For decades, Candlelighters has been a source of connection, comfort, and empowerment for families navigating the difficult journey of childhood cancer. This facility represents a tangible commitment to our mission—providing spaces that foster connection, healing, and resilience.

Siblings, often referred to as “shadow survivors,” face unique emotional challenges that can be overlooked. Our new holistic care spaces and targeted programs ensure they, too, receive the support they need to thrive. For parents, navigating the emotional and logistical toll of caring for a sick child can be overwhelming. Peer networks and counseling services will offer them a lifeline of understanding and encouragement.

The Young Adult Advisory Council, a cornerstone of our programming, will find a dedicated home in this facility. This council empowers survivors and siblings to contribute their voices to the future of pediatric oncology care, ensuring our programs remain relevant and impactful.

Building a Future Together

As we prepare to open the doors to this transformative space, I am reminded of the power of community support. Candlelighters has always thrived because of the unwavering dedication of our donors, volunteers, and advocates. This new facility is a testament to what we can achieve together.

Now, we invite you to join us in building an even brighter future. There are many ways to get involved:

Donate: Your contributions fund vital services like therapy, peer support, and family events.

Volunteer: Help bring our programs to life or assist with operations at our new facility.

Spread Awareness: Share our story to ensure every family affected by childhood cancer knows they have a community behind them.

Join Us on November 13

I personally invite you to celebrate this milestone with us. The grand opening of our new facility is not just a celebration of our achievements—it’s a launchpad for the next phase of our mission. During the event, you’ll have the chance to tour the building, participate in engaging activities, and leave messages of hope that will inspire families for years to come.

This facility will enable Candlelighters to serve more families, innovate new programs, and expand our reach, ensuring that every child and family battling cancer in Southern Nevada receives the support they need. Together, we can create a legacy of healing, strength, and hope.

Thank you for being an integral part of our journey. I look forward to seeing you on November 13 as we take this momentous step forward—together.
